Starting Fresh: Fall and the New Year

Fall starts tomorrow. I noticed a few days ago, the air is already different, and the sun is going down earlier. I enjoy every season and will miss warm mornings--but not the evening mosquitoes.
This week also marks the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Even if you don’t celebrate it, there’s something about this timing that feels like a reset button for life.
One of the customs of Rosh Hashanah includes blowing the shofar. There is no sound like the shofar. If you've ever heard it you won't forget it. To me, the shofar is a sound of victory, celebration, and advancing forward. It's a sound of clarity of our position in Christ.
Since January I’ve been writing, teaching, and talking about clarity almost nonstop. A Woman of Clarity started as scribbles in my journal, then a Bible study, then another. It wasn’t planned. It just kept showing up. And now, with the new season and the Jewish New Year lining up, it feels like God is saying, “Here’s another fresh start — take it.”
Fall is a chance to start again without waiting for January. It’s a chance to let go of whatever’s been weighing you down — the chaos, the habits, the compromises, the drama — and step into something lighter. And sound off in victory, celebration, and advance forward in Christ. In Christ we have a fresh start today.
Starting over, starting fresh is a feeling like no other. What will you do in this new season? I will continue this week:
– Taking time with the Lord each morning.
– Declutter areas in my home that need it.
– Asking myself, “What’s one thing I can release before this year ends?”
What’s one thing you want to leave behind as the season changes, and what’s one small thing you want to pick up to move forward?
That’s what Conversations with Daisy Jones is about — real talk about faith, leadership, purpose, culture, and everyday life. There’s always something worth talking about, and right now it’s this: starting fresh.
